A becalmed Inverie Bay with the sun lifting the most off the surrounding hills created the backdrop for morning cuppa and breakfast. Weighed anchor to sail out past Mallaig and to the south coast of Skye, to circumnavigate the small isles (Rhum, Muck and Eigg) en route to the Sound of Mull and Loch Drumbuie (in English!) opposite Tobermory on Mull.
Navigated by Brian seen below guiding is by road map and postcards overlaying the chart!
A quite start over coffee before the wind built on the spectacular bay south of the Cuillin Ridge. With the boat trimmed she sailed herself for half an hour (pic) whilst we were teased by a large pod of dolphins whose jumping and power swimming impressed us for 20 mins with the Cuillin in the background. Caught on camera but not this phone to share!
Duly inspired we headed south between Eigg and Ruhm and on to Muck (gaillic for pig!). Stella read the story of the Small Isles to us, lunched, and read a novel coming below later with a red face from the sun! Wearing lotion every day, even when cloudy, but these days are proving to be bright with clear blue sky's and sunshine; you won't want to hear that by the looks of the forecasts south of here!
Sailing on to arrive in the small enclosed bay north of Tobermory in 30 minutes as, glad I've now got a signal, I write this down below cooking roast chicken with a selection of toast vegetables and cous cous! I hope it will be ready for when the anchor is dropped.
Ah! Signal just gone half way through loading up - tomorrow now!
