12 hours, 100 miles over ground.
Departed Gosport at 0630 and turned to port at Horse Sand Fort out of Portsmouth harbour, heading East as far as fair tides would take us. Were able to plan the passage to run with tides in our direction for 12 hours!
Forecast of SW winds never materialised so we raised the inverted triangle black day shape and motorsailed along the coast past Bognor, Brighton and iconic Beachy Head (pictured with me).
I broke in to the plastic survival box which the church young people gave me, with the chocolate raisins cheering me up from the drone of the engine.
Pressed on to Dungeness and arrived at Dover at 2000 to fill up with 130 ltrs Diesel (picture) and anchor for the night. We had gone at a pace to catch the easterly tide streams all day long and so made good progress. Aiming to weigh anchor at 0630 for Lowestoft tomorrow.
